Cawthon and Mata to Present at Columbia University’s Symposium on Diversity and Equity

Dr. Stephanie W. Cawthon and her doctoral student, Ryan Mata, have been invited to present at Columbia University’s inaugural Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Anti-Racism, and Justice Symposium on March 7, 2023.

The presentation, Fostering Accessibility from the Inside Out, will provide proven, practical steps on how to shift an organizational culture to be inclusive of disabled people and accessible for all.

Their findings are based on the Collaborative for Access and Equity, an innovative project directed by Dr. Cawthon at the University of Texas at Austin, which was coordinated by Mata and made possible with support from Microsoft.

The symposium is for the nearly 500 members of Columbia’s alumni relations and development staff, one of the leading university alumni relations and development teams in the United States — ranking among the top five and most recently raising $1.1 billion for the Columbia University Student Support Initiative. Despite this unprecedented success, the teams are focused on becoming more inclusive and fostering diversity by learning the latest strategies and insights to equitably engage with all stakeholders.
